The player takes on the role of Tommy Vercetti, a criminal who has just been released from prison. The game is set in the fictional city of Vice City, which is based on Miami, Florida in the 1980s. There are also small hidden sections all around both islands that can only be accessed via specific side-missions or by discovering secret areas these locations often contain powerful weapons or hard-to-find collectibles. The game’s plot is based around these two main islands one is an industrial island named “ Downtown“, while the other is a beachfront area containing various residential neighborhoods named “ Ocean Beach“.
